Stevan Green

Stevan has a wealth of local and international experience and knowledge of the engineering, minerals and energy industry.

West Australian by birth, Stevan is a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Western Australia. Since then he has worked for a number of major organisations, including Shell, BHP Billiton and the North West Shelf Venture.

Stevan has spent much of his professional life finding innovative solutions to issues including:

  • Responsibility for the design of the first of its kind Methanol Research Plant in Melbourne;
  • Helping the Government of Mozambique upgrade its edible oil production facilities; and
  • Developing commercial opportunities for the North West Shelf Venture
   
Mark Neville

Dr Mark Neville, Business Manager

Mark has extensive experience in Business and R&D management, technology transfer, product commercialisation, intellectual property management, business development and contract negotiation.

He has a strong network of technical and commercial contacts within the mineral processing and metals industries, particularly relating to sustainable resource processing. Mark's previous experience includes several years as Business Alliances Leader and Manager of Technology Transfer for the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO).

He has extensive International business development and commercialisation experience in Europe, North America and the Far East. Prior to joining ANSTO, Mark was the International Business Development Manager for Environmental Systems & Services for AEA Technology plc., formerly the UK Atomic Energy Authority.

Mark has published more than 30 technical papers in international journals and holds 9 international patents.

   
Dan Churach

Dr Dan Churach, Education Manager

Dan has worked as a teacher, counsellor and lecturer in tertiary institution and high schools in the United Sates and Australia.

Dan headed the Science Department at St Joseph School in Hilo, Hawaii for many years, lectured in the School of Education at Providence College in the USA, the Chaminade University (Hawaii) and the Departments of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Hawaii.

Dan is also a lecturer with the Extractive Metallurgy group at Murdoch University.

   
Evan Jamieson Dr Evan Jamieson, Bauxite Residue Program Leader

Evan Jamieson holds a B App Sci with P. Grad in Chemistry from Curtin University and a PhD in Hydrometallurgy from Murdoch University. He also holds qualifications in Project and Business Management. Evan has worked in a wide range of mineral industries ranging from brick production to advanced battery design and has spent the past 12 years in the alumina industry at Alcoa World Alumina's Technology Delivery Group.

 Evan's speciality in iron oxide hydrometallurgy and having spent the past 4 years investigating bauxite residue reuse opportunities, has made him well suited to his current role as “Bauxite Residue Research Leader" for the CSRP. Evan has a keen interest in sustainable development and education. He has been an adjunct or industry supervisor to 3 PhD, 4 Masters and countless undergrad and honours student projects from Curtin University and is looking forward to continuing that association.

   
Jim Avraamides

Dr Jim Avraamides, Incubator Program Leader

After obtaining a PhD in chemistry in 1972 from the ANU, Dr Jim Avraamides spent 3 years in industry with Johnson-Matthey (UK) working on precious metal recovery and refining, and 6 years at Murdoch University before joining the WA Department of Mines (now DOIR, the Department of Industry and Resources) in 1985. From 1988 to 1997 he was Chief of the Department’s Mineral Processing Laboratory. Jim’s current research interest is in gold hydrometallurgy including carbon-in-pulp technology (particularly carbon reactivation) and treatment of refractory gold ores.

He has been a member of various AMIRA, MERIWA and other government funded gold research projects in WA since 1981 and has commercialised widely accepted methods for activated carbon testing and involved in general process troubleshooting to the gold industry.

He has been a member of the Parker Centre for Integrated Hydrometallurgy Solutions since its establishment in 1992 and is now the Team Leader for the Incubator Program and a member of the Education and Training Committee for CSRP .

   

Lisa Laurie

Lisa learned first-hand about the mineral processing and mining sector having travelled and lived around Australia with her family's primary income derived from the industry. She earned her degree in Computer Science at Curtin University of Technology in 2005.

Lisa first became familiar with CSRP when she was hired as a part-time student assistant at their Perth headquarters in 2004. Upon graduation from Curtin, she was hired as the Executive Assistant to the CEO. Lisa left CSRP to travel the world during 2007, spending a full year backpacking, camping, skiing and working her way around Canada, USA, Europe, India and Southeast Asia. Upon returning to Perth, she was once again hired at CSRP in her current position of Communications Officer.

Prior to joining CSRP, Lisa was employed for almost four years as a Senior Customer Consultant at iiNet Ltd. She also held various administrative roles, including at the National Native Title Tribunal and a mining magazine publishing house.

Lisa has a keen interest in having a positive impact on the Earth's environment and the sustainability of commerce and industry.

   
Tony Bagshaw

Dr Tony Bagshaw , Business Consultant

Since he “retired” from AMIRA International in late 2005, Tony Bagshaw has been running his own consulting company Chemical Systems Pty Ltd. He spent 8 years with AMIRA as Research Director, running their Perth office. His time there, and in previous lives with Alcoa and the WA Government, enabled him to build up an extensive network of contacts around the world in the minerals industry, research organisations and government agencies. He continues a close involvement with the international aluminium industry, particularly in alumina production.

His role in CSRP is focussed on the business side to ensure research outcomes are taken up initially as demonstration projects and ultimately adopted by industry.

Tony has academic qualifications (BA, MA and D Phil) from the University of Oxford, UK.
