Reuse of Fly Ash from Power Station

Summary

Fly ash is a by-product from the combustion of coal. Asnæs Power Station produces about 30,000 tonnes of fly ash on a yearly basis. The fly ash is sent to a plant in Great Britain which reclaims the nickel and vanadium. The plant supplies most of the fly ash to Aalborg Portland as a raw material for cement production (Kalundborg Centre for Industrial Symbiosis 2004).
