Carbon Dioxide Reuse in Dry Ice Production

Summary

PTT Gas Separation Plant refines natural gas into ethane, propane and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) to be used as raw materials in petrochemical industries. Wastes generated from the separation plant are carbon dioxide (CO2) and mercury (Hg). The CO2 is sent to TIG Air Co Ltd, TRAX Air Co Ltd and Hydro Gas Co Ltd where it is used in the production of solid carbonic (dry ice). Dry ice is solidified carbon dioxide that sublimates at -78.5 degrees Celcius and is used mainly as a refrigerant   Studies are still being conducted on the reuse of the mercury.
