Use of Fly Ash in Cement Manufacturing

Summary

The cement manufacturer may be able to use fly ash from coal-fired electric generating plants in its processes. The transport of the fly ash may take advantage as an empty rail backhaul, further improving the economic benefits of the synergy. The synergy has potential to result in reduced waste disposal costs for the fly ash producer, reduced raw material costs for the cement manufacturer, and transportation cost savings for both companies.
