During its 7 year term, CSRP offered a Student Support Fund to further assist CSRP-funded students.
There was no set dollar amount per student associated with the Student Support Fund (SSF), though it was approximately $5,000-$10,000 over the 3 to 3.5 years of a PhD program and proportionally less (2 years) for a Masters. This support was at the discretion of the Education Manager in consultation with the CEO and/or the Education Committee and was therefore not guaranteed.
Each PhD and Masters student was eligible to receive a CSRP-branded laptop computer or its equivalent (approximate value $2000) after the granting of the scholarship, though the flexibility existed to meet special needs of individual students. If a computer was purchased for a student, the cost would be included as part of the first year SSF for that individual.
PhD and Masters students were also offered CSRP professional development functions to be held on a rotating basis at participating university cities each year. Additionally, approximately every 16-18 months the CSRP was involved in organising a Student-Industry-CRC Symposium and funded student participation in that. CSRP also considered professional development offerings relevant to individual student requirements.
Students were also encouraged to apply for funding for other activities related to their degree studies. This support was discretionary (not automatic) and was decided on a case by case basis by the Education Manager in consultation with the CEO.
CSRP ceased operations on 31 October 2010 and will no longer be providing the Student Support Fund.
