Joe Herbertson and Laurie Stonehouse, two of CSRP’s inaugural Directors, have resigned from the Governing Board. Joe Herbertson was instrumental in developing the successful application that is now the CRC for Sustainable Resource Processing. Laurie Stonehouse is taking up a new position within Alcoa and will be based in the United States. We wish both Laurie and Joe every success in their future endeavours. New Directors will be elected at the AGM in December.
A workshop looking at sustainability methodologies and tools used by industry, the CSRP Annual General Meeting and the Participants Forum will be held from the 6th-8th December. All 3 events will be held at the ARRC Building, 26 Dick Perry Avenue, Kensington WA (CSRP Headquarters).
Participants Forum (6th December)
The Participants’ Forum will consist of a series of talks (and discussions) on Program 3 and Program 4 topics. The Forum will be lead by Prof Rene van Berkel (Program 3 Manager) and Dr Sharif Jahanshahi (Program 4 Manager).
CSRP Workshop (7th December)
This will offer a workshop environment to all participants (and any of their employees) to hear about up to date methodologies being used to frame, assess and implement sustainability decisions.
AGM (8th December)
This year’s AGM will be held on the 8th December 2005 at 2pm in the ARRC Auditorium.

CSRP in conjunction with GAMSET (Gladstone Area Mathematics, Science and Engineering Teachers) have developed CSRP’s newest project 5B3 “GAMSET Enhancement”. This project builds on 5B1 “Teacher’s Professional Development Program”. The project aims to work with GAMSET and QAL to engage teachers in a regional areas with real-world, industry-based applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
An induction pack for new members to CSRP has been placed on CRC Centric and can be downloaded and printed. It contains a quick reference guide and information that can assist members new to CSRP.
Welcome to Rachel Hawkins and Shelly Attiwell, who are studying towards their Masters. Welcome also to Linda Ly, who is our latest Honours student.
Rachel’s thesis is entitled “The Development of the Piston and Die Test to Predict Lab-Scale HPGR Performance”. Rachel is based at the University of Queensland and her supervisor is Dr Emmy Manlapig.
Shelly’s thesis is entitled “Leach Testing of Red Lime and Alkaloam in Various Environments”. Shelley is based at Curtin University and is supervised by Dr Hamid Nikraz (Curtin) and Dr Evan Jamieson (Alcoa).
Linda, who is working on Geopolymer research, is based at ANSTO and is supervised by Dr Lou Vance.
