Water Workshop

A Water Workshop, held as part of the Water Issues Paper, hosted at the University of Queensland , Brisbane , is being scheduled for April (date to be advised). The focus of the workshop is to identify the big issues in managing water resources in the minerals industry. For details please contact Dr Clair Cote on 07 3346 4012 or c.cote@smi.uq.edu.au.

 

Alcoa Delegation

A delegation of a number of Alcoa’s Technology Mangers visited CSRP’s headquarters on the 16th February. Mangers from Russia, China, India and the USA were given a presentation on CSRP and its research activities. It was very well received and it was a great chance to promote CSRP to the wider Alcoa community.

 

MOU with GAMSET

An MOU was signed amongst Gladstone Area Mathematics, Science and Engineering Teachers (GAMSET), Queensland Alumina and CSRP. The memorandum is aimed at enhancing cooperation among the three signatures with the aim of offering a greater number of professional development experiences for school science and maths teachers within the mineral processing industry. Additionally, the MOU is aimed at boosting Project 5B3.

 

Student-Industry-CRC Symposium

The 2006 Student-Industry-CRC Symposium is being held from 18th-23rd June 2006 at the Central Queensland University (Marina Campus) in Gladstone. Further updates and information on the symposium will follow in future newsletters.

 

New Students

Welcome to Di Nichols and Ross Williams who are CSRP’s latest students. Di is undertaking “Assessment of teacher professional development as a change agent of attitudes towards industry” and is being supervised by Dr Dan Churach (CSRP) and Professor Darrell Fisher from Curtin University . Ross his completing his Honours on “Influence of starting flyash on geopolymer properties” and is being supervised by Dr Rob Hart and Professor Arie van Riessen, also from Curtin University . We wish Dianne and Ross well in their studies.
